Safe and Eco-Friendly Paint for Kid's Arts and Crafts
Parents looking for eco-friendly and non-toxic paint and craft options that are also cruelty-free and vegan for their children have to usually do quite a bit of searching to find these items. Green has found one that fits the bill!
Many finger paints on the market contain preservatives, mineral oil, artificial dyes which are often derived from animals, and sometimes synthetic scents. Most are also tested on animals. Even if you are crafty and make your own paints, the quality might not be great, and artificial dyes or food colorings can still contain undesirable and potentially unsafe ingredients. Plus, it can be very messy and take up much of the quality time you want to spend making beautiful creations with your little ones.
Children should obviously be discouraged from putting any paint or craft supplies in their mouth and to wash their hands after using these items. They also need supervision the entire time they are using paint and similar products.
But maybe you don't think a child absorbing a little paint or ink in their skin or even ingesting just a small amount of paint or glue is harmful. According to Hello Motherhood, "Toxic chemicals can have a more pronounced effect on a child's body than on an adult's. Children have less body mass, more sensitive skin and faster metabolisms, meaning that they can absorb toxic or dangerous substances more quickly than an adult." In fact, even most craft supplies labeled as non-toxic still suggest calling the Poison Control Center immediately if swallowed. That doesn't sound too safe to me.
Some paints also release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can cause headaches and nausea. The Environmental Protection Agency states that most VOCs are not regulated so their health effects are widely unknown. The EPA also suggests that reducing the concentration of all VOCs, both indoors and outdoors, should be an important goal due to health and environmental concerns.
We've been looking for a great company for awhile that offers safer products while still being kind to the environment as well as vegan, and found a company that "was founded with a mission to bring art supplies to babies and young children by offering the highest quality products made from plant-based ingredients. [The] products are all natural, and made without chemicals, preservatives or color additives."
If you've been looking for a company like this, which uses recycled materials and compostable packaging for their products, look no further! In addition to being excellent for the environment, all their products are all vegan and cruelty-free; high quality and durable materials that perform exceptionally well; and are so safe and non-toxic they are edible. This is a small company that truly deserves our support with such great products! Because we align fully with their mission, green has decided to become an affiliate for Zebra Brands!
Their products include finger paint for babies and toddlers, 100% post-consumer recycled paper for their art pads and finger paint papers, sculpting dough, and different types of paints. Some of their packs even include smocks! How convenient is that?
Great customer service is also extremely important to us, so we wanted to only affiliate with a company that cares about their customers as much as we care about ours.
One of our favorite offerings from Zebra Brands is their Art Pack 1: Veggie Baby Finger Paint + Art Pad. It comes with five rich, natural colors of Veggie Baby Finger Paint safe for children as young as six months! It also includes a 60-sheet art pad of thick, heavy-weight recycled paper which was crafted to work well not only with their natural paints, but with any crayons, markers, and other materials. These are great to keep as supplies in your own home or also make fantastic gifts.
We all want the best for our family, especially for our children. So would you rather have exciting and safe paints and art supplies for your kids that are made from vegetables or would you rather have who know what dangerous ingredients in them?
